John Reid, born to Julia Goodridge Reid, a former primary school teacher and owner of a senior citizen resources consulting firm in Virginia, and John S. “Jack” Reid, a former University of Richmond football and track coach and Chesterfield County principal. Raised in a family dedicated to education and public service, John's early life in Norfolk and Richmond was deeply influenced by his parents' professions.

Jack Reid's political engagement began in the late '70s, collaborating with prominent GOP figures such as Dick Obenshain, then Richmond Mayor Tom Bliley, and Jim Gilmore (who would later become Virginia's Governor), among others. Their goal was ambitious: to dismantle the Democrat stronghold in Virginia through strategic candidate and grassroots recruitment.

Growing up, John was a constant presence at campaign events and meetings alongside his father, dedicating his teenage years to volunteering for various local and state campaigns. This early exposure to politics saw his father serving as a pioneering Republican Delegate for Henrico County in the Virginia House of Delegates from 1990 to 2008.

John, alongside his younger sister—who has since transitioned from a senior role in several Fortune 500 companies to family life in central Virginia—received his education in Henrico County Public Schools, eventually graduating from St. Christopher's School in Richmond as a class leader and varsity athlete in 1989.

His pursuit of higher education led him to Baylor University in Waco, Texas, where he graduated early with a political science degree in 1992. At Baylor, John was an active member and officer of Delta Tau Delta fraternity, further honing his leadership skills through student government involvement.

John's early career focus on mass communications opened doors to significant roles in the media industry, including stints as a news producer and reporter for CBS in Waco, TX, and a decade-long tenure as a celebrated news anchor and investigative reporter for WRIC ABC-8 in Richmond.

Throughout his career, John has had the privilege of working alongside notable conservative leaders. His roles have included serving as an intern and communications staff assistant in President Reagan's Los Angeles office, communications director for U.S. Senator George Allen, editorial communications chief at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and partner and director of international development at Qorvis Communications.

His dedication to democracy and leadership development led him to Baghdad with the International Republican Institute during Operation Iraqi Freedom, and later as the Chief Communications Officer for IAVA (Iraq Afghanistan Veterans of America), where he played a critical role in advocating for and securing funding for veterans' mental health needs.

Today, John is the acclaimed host of the morning-drive news talk show on NewsRadio WRVA in Richmond, continuing his engagement in national politics as a conservative political communications consultant. He resides in Short Pump with his partner Alonzo and their two Siberian Huskies, Teddy Roosevelt and Jax.

Looking ahead, John is exploring a potential candidacy for Lieutenant Governor of Virginia as a Republican in the 2025 statewide elections. He plans to conduct a listening tour across Virginia, engaging with conservative voters to gather insights and perspectives that will guide his decision on whether to run in 2025.
